Area crashers played a key role in kicking off the credit union’s largest advocacy event of the year.

Three Crashers had the honor of participating in the parade of flags ceremony to officially open this year’s GAC. Spectra Credit Union’s Courtney Gray joined MD|DC Credit Union Association President/CEO John Bratsakis in representing the District of Columbia. Del-One Federal Credit Union’s Dr. Shallon Poulson and Andrews Federal Credit Union’s Kyle-Anne Eaton carried the Maryland flag. 

State advocacy accomplishments were announced as the flag procession entered, including these for DC and Maryland:

DC
• Highly engaged in dozens of meetings on Algorithm Discrimination Act which resulted in no mark up as concerns raised prompted further review by DC Council.

Maryland
• Strengthened notification standards for businesses when there is a data breach.
• Defeated a bill to extend time allowed to file a civil suit against a creditor from 3 to 12 years.
