Political Shift Underway in Annapolis
The Maryland General Assembly begins its 90-day session tomorrow, but Annapolis is already buzzing with activity.

When all 188 lawmakers return on Wednesday, the political landscape will be undergoing a generation shift with a new Governor, Lt. Governor, Comptroller and Attorney General.
Anthony Brown was sworn-in last week as Attorney General. Up next is Comptroller-elect Brooke Lierman on January 16, with Governor-elect Wes Moore and Lt. Governor-elect Aruna Miller taking the oath of office January 18.
Moore will be getting to work right away; his administration’s proposed budget must be submitted to the General Assembly just two days after taking office.
For the first time in three years, lawmakers will return to pre-pandemic procedures, with most legislative meetings and sessions held in person.
The Association will be in Annapolis on opening day and looks forward to a productive session.
