The annual American Association of Credit Union League meeting is an opportunity to collaborate on key issues, hear from policymakers, and engage with organizations working to advance credit unions.

Attendees heard from a lineup of speakers that included NCUA Chairman Todd Harper, NCUA Board Member Rodney Hood, CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle and NCUF Executive Director Gigi Hyland. AACUL’s annual conference provides a valuable forum for leagues and other system leaders to share ideas, discuss emerging trends, strategize on advocacy issues, and collaborate to further strengthen the credit union system.

Several speakers talked about how credit unions can continue to help improve the financial health of communities. MD|DC Credit Union Association president/CEO John Bratsakis participated in a panel discussion on how to build on the $165 million raised by credit unions to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the families who rely on them. Bratsakis serves as the Chair of CU4Kids, Credit Union Miracle Day and the Credit Union Cherry Blossum Ten Mile Run which collectively raise money to benefit CMN.

Hosted by the Carolinas Credit Union League, the conference was held in Charleston, SC and brought together league presidents, league service corporation and association executives, league chairs, government and political affairs professionals, CUNA executive committee members, national and state regulators, and system partners.
