Wallet Hub compared states on key indicators like the percentage of registered voters in the 2020 presidential election and total political contributions.
Landing in the number one spot was Maryland with Virginia coming in at number three.
Here are the top five most politically engaged states according to the survey:
1. Maryland
2. New Jersey
3. Virginia
4. Washington
5. Oregon
So which states ranked as the least politically active? Coming in at 50 was Arkansas. Here’s the bottom five.
1. Arkansas
2. West Virginia
3. Alabama
4. South Dakota
5. Nebraska
Election day is expected to be pivotal both locally and nationally. Voters in Maryland will decide on a new governor, comptroller and attorney general, while control of congress up for grabs.
