Patricia Folk
Patricia I. Folk, President of the Credit Union and Treasurer of the Board, has been with the Allegany County Teachers’ Federal Credit Union since 1978 where she began as a Teller with two other fulltime employees. She attended Allegany College of Maryland where she received a degree in Business and Accounting. Patricia has worked in all positions at the credit union before becoming manager in 1985.
Patricia has worked with NCUA in the Small Credit Union Preservation Program (SCUPP) for a number of years.
Patricia has received her certification in CUNA’s Credit Union Financial Counseling curriculum in 2007 and has completed the Merit Program also sponsored by CUNA. She has served as a Board Member for the MDDCCUA from June 1998 to June 2001 and from June 2007 to the present. She has been an active member of the Western Maryland Chapter of the MDDCCUA since 1995 where she served as Secretary, currently serving as President.
Patricia Folk has been an advocate in promoting Financial Literacy to the students in the Allegany County School system. She was a contributing factor in presenting to the Allegany County Board of Education a Financial Literacy program whereby the credit union provides the materials and the instruction when necessary. She volunteers her time in teaching students from the “Making the Right Moves” materials to high school students and “Saving with Randy and Mandy” books for elementary students.
The Allegany County Teachers’ Federal Credit Union currently has three branches, 22 employees, is $66 million in assets and serves 7,500 members.
Patricia is one of ten children, has one daughter, four step-children, and four grand-children. She is married to Jim and resides in Fort Ashby, West Virginia.
