Community Involvement

Building a Healthy Community

Community means different things to different people; however, MDDCCUA facilitates and encourages its affiliates to reach out to their neighbors through educational events and participation in a variety of opportunities geared toward improving the lives of those neighbors within the region.

Two events scheduled for 2010 are:

Money Power Day
Money Power Day is a free financial fitness event dedicated to helping participants boost their financial well-being. This is an energy-packed day filled with exciting activities designed to inspire and inform people of all ages and income levels. This year’s event is expected to draw over 1,300 participants from the Baltimore metro area. Now more than ever, people are looking for answers to their financial questions, and Money Power Day is designed to help.

Dollars & Sense Expo
The inaugural Dollars & Sense Expo (DSE) to benefit consumers throughout the DC Metro area. The Expo is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, at the Friendship Collegiate Academy, located at 4095 Minnesota Avenue, NE. The Dollars & Sense Expo will provide free tax preparation, free credit reports, educational sessions, and access to exhibitors that will include credit unions, governmental and non-profit agencies. The Expo was inspired by the success of Baltimore Money Power Day, which attracted over 1500 consumers in its fifth year by providing Baltimore-area residents easy access to financial counseling and services.
